What would you do? Your weekly ethical dilemma challenge

Robert has been at the bank longer than Victor, but there is some talk within the organisation that his numbers have been falling behind.

One afternoon, the bank's Chief of Sales offers Victor a promotion to regional manager - Robert's job. To his dismay, Victor is told that Robert has not been similarly promoted, and instead he would be replacing Robert outright.

Victor's been working ridiculous hours in surpassing expectations for his district, and certainly feels deserving of the promotion, but replacing his friend is the last thing he wants to do.

What would you do? What ethical considerations would you give to your decision-making? Why? Why not?

We encourage you to post your answers in the comments so we can create a healthy discussion, with the aim of learning from our peers, becoming aware of differing perspectives and challenging our own biases.
